With half a century of experience under our belts, we are a point of reference in our sector. Companies specialised in prepared dishes have been on the rise over the last decade, introducing pulses to their dishes, with highly mechanised and industrial processes. However in M&G we continue to stand out for the quality of our products and the absence of industrial processes that we consider to negatively affect quality.
The number of stores where you can find our products has not stopped increasing in recent years. Fortunately the crisis has not affected us, quite the contrary. People's awareness of the importance of a healthy and balanced diet and the incorporation of the millennial generation in the past few years have made our product the new way of eating pulses in the 21st century. Over one million trays leave our premises every year.
Juan Muñido Luna founded the company in 1969 with the activity of retailing cooked pulses and dried grain in a store, subsequently opening two more. Later he began with the wholesale of cooked pulses, delivering daily to bars, restaurants, traditional shops and some of the few supermarkets that started up in the 70's. Back then the pulses were sold by weight, in 3-kilo recipients, and served hot daily.
In the mid-90s, with the massive incorporation of supermarkets and the beginning of changes in housewives shopping habits, our founder and current manager of MUÑIDO & GARRIDO, Juan Muñido, wanted the pulses to reach all of these new housewives, since cooked pulses have always been and continue to be a very popular consumer product in Catalonia, as can be seen in all Catalan markets where MUÑIDO & GARRIDO has stands today and in which hot cooked pulses are sold.
This product was not in the supermarkets or hypermarkets, since they only had jars or tins; with an inferior level of quality compared to the loose hot cooked pulses.
It was then, with the new packaging technologies, when we started to use vacuum packaging for our products. With traditional cooking methods and, after numerous tests, applying the correct cooling formula and later packaging, we got our current product.
We have managed to retain all the original flavour of the pulses, with no need for rinsing, as is the case with jars and tins, with the product still containing all of its nutritional properties intact and extending its shelf life by up to 45 days.
Our largest current market is in traditional stores and supermarkets.

The restaurant business has taken on great importance in our sales, since nowadays important restaurant businesses place a lot of importance on the quality of the product and not so much on the price, rejecting jars and tins and opting for our products.
